Community Improvement Corporation (CIC)

The Powell Community Improvement Corporation (CIC) was incorporated as a 501(c)(3) corporation on Feb. 16, 2010, as allowed by the Ohio Revised Code. The purpose of the Powell CIC is to promote the industrial, commercial, distribution and research development within the City of Powell that will improve the normal growth, employment opportunities and stability of employment within these sectors. The CIC also works to advance the industrial and commercial life of the community and to stabilize the general economy of the area; to develop methods for or to assist in the development of methods to further enhance these purposes; and to furnish assistance to projects and undertakings concerning these purposes.

In 2008, the City of Powell launched The 44 Center for Business, Powell’s business incubator, which provides office space, administrative support, and educational opportunities for our growing start-up companies.

  • The CIC was incorporated as a 501(c)(3) corporation on Feb. 16, 2010, as allowed by Ohio Revised Code
  • The purpose of the Powell CIC is to promote the industrial, commercial, distribution and research development within the City of Powell that will improve the normal growth, employment opportunities and stability of employment within these sectors.
  • The CIC can provide incentives to new business relocations into Powell or to existing businesses that otherwise may move out of Powell. Incentives can take many forms and have many possibilities – such as low-interest loans, grants and reimbursements.
  • Made up of a Board consisting of people from the community appointed by Powell City Council that includes local residents, business owners and City of Powell staff.
  • The CIC meets at 6 p.m. the fourth Wednesday of each month in the Powell Municipal Building Council Chambers, located at 47 Hall Street.
